The 2026 Bradshaw Literary Award Recipient is Benjamin Osawa
Since the 1920s, the HCA has recognized an HMHS senior with the Bradshaw Literary Award for their thoughtful and creative response to a civic-oriented writing prompt. Named after Mr. Bradshaw (HCA President 1920-1925), he had a strong interest in the youth of the community and he established an essay competition which served to encourage an interest and awareness of the need for participation in civic affairs. Now, the essay program is conducted at HMHS under the supervision of the English Department and the essays are judged by a BOG committee. Congratulations to Benjamin Osawa!
The 2026 Kaufmann Performing Arts Award Recipient is Drew Cataldo
Mr. Kaufmann was a long-time Haddonfield resident and enthusiastic amateur in the world of the performing arts. He wrote, composed and directed a musical commemorating his beloved hometown, “Kings’ Road”, winning a Freedom Foundation Award. He was committed to assisting those around him, not looking for recognition and thanks, just looking to help. Accordingly, this award seeks to recognize a HMHS senior who exemplifies his twin passions of civic engagement and participation in the performing arts. Congratulations to Drew Cataldo!
2026 Quanci Visual Arts Award Recipient is Anna Sell
The HCA Board recognizes the visual arts program has been so strong, growing in stature and numbers (thanks to the hard work of the faculty and administrative support), that it deserved it’s own award. All HMHS seniors are encouraged to enter visual art submission for consideration. Entries include 2D and 3D pieces in any medium. The HCA is continually proud of the hard work and insight shared by the HMHS students and their display of creativity. Congratulations to Anna Sell!

Anna Sell’s Response to Prompt
Growing up in Haddonfield has shown me how the same spirit of civic engagement that shaped our town’s history continues to live on in everyday ways. My artwork depicts someone helping a child across a balance beam, symbolizing guidance and the passing of knowledge from one generation to the next. I see this idea come to life in my own experience as a gymnastics coach at Tumbling on Haddon. Working with young children, I help them learn not only basic gymnastics skills but also confidence, perseverance, and trust in themselves. In many ways, this mirrors the kind of community support that the prompt describes, people helping others find their footing and encouraging them to grow. Working at a small local business in Haddonfield has also shown me how civic spirit is built through everyday connections. Tumbling on Haddon is more than a gym; it is a place where families gather, relationships form, and passions are shared across generations. Just as mentors once helped me develop my love for gymnastics, I now have the opportunity to pass that encouragement on to younger athletes. In that way, my life in Haddonfield has been shaped by the same enduring spirit of community, mentorship, and shared responsibility that has defined the town since its role in the founding of our nation.
