Civic Association Town Dinner 2009

In recognition for their life time of non-stop community service, Linda Brees and DeForest “Butch” Brees were presented with 2009 the Alfred E. Driscoll Community Service Award at the Haddonfield Civic Association’s recent Annual Town Dinner.  The 98th Town Dinner was held at the Tavistock Country Club on April 30, 2009 with an enthusiastic crowd of over 150 hungry but well behaved people in attendance.

Entertainment was provided by the Haddonfield Memorial High School’s Woodwind Quintet, a talented group of students led by Christa Vernon who charmed their audience with their skillful interpretation of ‘Claire de Lune” and other musical pieces.  As part of the program, the three finalists in the Bradshaw Award Essay Contest,  Jackie Sikkema, Chenxi Lin, and Alexandra Kolaski read their winning entries and the Kaufmann Award for Performing Arts was presented to an outstanding high school senior in theater and drama Christian Sabelli.

A “good time” was had by all, thanks to the masterful direction of the Master of Ceremonies, former mayor Gene Kain, as well as the delicious expertise of the Tavistock Country Club kitchen.  The video podcast of the event is available above.  This civic/social event is one of the great traditions of our town. Be there next year!
